On July 1st, the 21st edition of CEP AUTO 2025 took place — the flagship event of the Centro Español de Plásticos (CEP), which this year was held online via streaming.
CEP Auto is a full-day event where solutions, success stories, and innovations in the field of plastic materials applied to the automotive sector are presented. The goal is to share experiences and innovative developments that bring sustainability to a constantly evolving industry.
As in previous years, AGI participated as a speaker in this edition, presenting a case study. Jorge Serrano, industrial equipment specialist and Product Manager at AGI, was responsible for presenting a success story from one of our clients: NORJECT.
The Norject challenge:
The presentation, titled “Sustainability in Motion: Innovation in the Production of Parts for the Automotive Sector”, began with a brief introduction to the commercial relationship between AGI and NORJECT, followed by the challenge they faced: replacing a critical metal component in the braking system, which serves a sealing function, with a plastic alternative.
This replacement had to meet the following strict requirements:
- Extreme tolerance
- Durability
- Resistance to harsh environmental conditions
Once the technical requirements were defined, the importance of replacing metal with plastic for high-performance components was emphasized.
The project was initially developed using a hydraulic machine, but some process limitations arose.
AGI's solution:
The solution was found by implementing a work cell composed of the FANUC ROBOSHOT iA series electric injection moulding machine and the WEMO 8-5 eDesign robot, both officially represented by AGI.
Throughout the event, various speakers shared experiences, success stories, and developments, covering not only plastic materials but also the application of state-of-the-art technologies and machinery, including additive manufacturing.
